Welcome to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Florence!  With the richness of its history, art and to its credit, known as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, the sensory experience of Florence is not to be missed.  We gather early afternoon in the lobby of our beautiful hotel around 1:30 pm and head out for an exclusive sit down lunch and wine pairing at an Enoteca in the heart of Florentine old town where we savor the flavors, scents, colors and moments together of cured meats, Tuscan cheese and of course, Tuscan wine and get to know each other while we relax, de-stress and enjoy La Dolce Vita.  After enjoying an amazing Tuscan lunch and journey of Tuscan wine, we explore of one of the culturally richest cities in the world with a city walk. We will visit the main squares and buildings of Florence, Signoria Square, Duomo Square with Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti Palace, which was acquired by the Medici family in 1549 and later used as a power base by Napoleon.  Once we have seen the beauty that Florence holds, we will break bread, drink local Tuscan wine and enjoy one of the most mouth- watering meals we’ve ever had at one of Florence’s oldest and most delicious restaurants.  Our menu fixe will include (in our opinion) one of the best Bistecca alla Fiorentina in town. Florence is known for great food and even better wine.  This restaurant is one of my personal favorites and at the top of the list.    As we sit together for our welcome dinner and enjoy our food and wine, we can unwind and share our travel experiences.  Our journey has just begun and A Toast to Travel is in order!

After breakfast, a day of History, Glory, Art and Transcendence await.  Around 10 am we meet to visit the most famous museums in Florence, the Uffizi and the Accademia Galleries.  Michelangelo? Botticelli? Da Vinci?  The Uffizi houses one of the world’s most important collections of Italian Renaissance Art.  It was chosen to house the Medici collections and in the 17th century, the Grand Duke made it possible to visit the gallery with a special permit.  Well, we have one today!  After our transport back in time, we will bring you back momentarily as we have lunch with Tuscan wine at a modern restaurant with fantastic views of the Arno.  We will enjoy Tuscan delicacies and great wines while sharing our views on the art we’ve just experienced.  From the restaurant, we will walk over to the Accademia Gallery.  Many of the works of art at the Accademia were commissioned by the powerful Medici family and donated so that these works could be admired by all.  And that is exactly what we will do.  An experience at the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries should not be missed.    Be prepared to be transported back in time, a time which was known for opulence and beauty.   After we’ve had a chance to relax a bit, we meet this evening for a great Italian tradition, the aperitivo.  After we wet our appetites, we will make our way to another of our favorite Florentine restaurants to enjoy another amazing meal and staying true to form enjoy more great Tuscan wine and share our experiences

The David and Hercules

Buongiorno! Today we have a special treat in store.  After breakfast we head to one of the most beautiful, warm, private and memorable wineries in Tuscany.  We meet  around 10 am to be transported by our Mercedes  through beautiful rolling hills and slopes, dotted with vineyards and olive groves, to arrive at our secluded, award winning winery where we will spend the day visiting the winery and castle that dates back to the 1400s where Leonard Da Vinci painted his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa.  Once at the Castle, we will enjoy a tour of the vineyards, historic cellars and beautiful Renaissance gardens.  We may also have the opportunity to visit the wine cellar and learn about the fermentation and maturation process.    Then, there’s the wine tasting with a delicious lunch typical of Tuscany. We’ll eat delicious fresh pasta and an unforgettable main dish.  Don’t forget to try the olive oil produced onsite—it’s one of the best we’ve ever tried.  Of course, our meals will be made with it!  The conversation and wine will flow most beautifully!  After we are transported back to Florence, you’ll have some free time on your own and to get ready for dinner and more wine!  We’ll have an apertivo together tonight before dinner and then, another delicious meal for an unforgettable experience in Florence.

We meet at the Hotel Hall to say our farewells over breakfast but really, it’s not goodbye—it’s until next time.  Thank you in advance for sharing time with us and being a part of our lives.  We look forward to being life-long friends and remaining in touch.  It would be our pleasure to host you again on another trip whether the trip is in Italy, France or anywhere else in the world our travels take us, all with an absolute focus on living well, making life-long friends and enjoying great wine.  It really is, A Toast to Travel!  Buon Viaggio and A la prossima!
